Shelley Simmons Appointed Vice President Global Communications, Aveda

NEW YORK & MINNEAPOLIS–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Jun. 6, 2012– Dominique Conseil, Global Brand President Aveda, announced today the appointment of Shelley Simmons to Vice President Global Communications Aveda, effective June 25, 2012. Ms. Simmons will report to Mr. Conseil and Marianne Diorio, Senior Vice President Global Brand Communications, The Estée Lauder Companies.

Ms. Simmons has held positions at The Body Shop since 2000, most recently as their Brand Communications and Values Director, Americas. In that position, she built the Public Relations team for the US, Canada and Mexico, developed communications strategies and led Internal Communications, Consumer Events and Social Media. Before that she was the Global Head of PR for The Body Shop International in the UK where she developed global PR strategy, worked closely with company founder Dame Anita Roddick and led press trips to Zambia, Namibia, Brazil, Guatemala and Nicaragua telling the story of Fair Trade producers and the brand.

Before that, Ms. Simmons held positions in communications at a not-for profit animal welfare organization, the British Film Institute and BBC Television and Film. Ms. Simmons also holds a law degree from the University of Westminster, London.
